| Applied Control Technologies, Inc. can provide the hardware that you need to use to connect your computers or offices together. The equipment used directly affects the quality and the speed of the network connection. There are several data transfer speeds now available for networks, speeds range up to 1Gbps. | |||||||||

Hubs / Switches:
| A hub is a network device that handles all of the connections between computers on the network. Although a hub is capable of handling all of the traffic, a switch allows a the network to operate more efficiently and thus faster. Switches are only slightly more expensive than hubs and the increase in performance may be worth the slight added expense. | |||||||||

Routers:
| A router will allow you to connect two dissimilar networks together. An example of this is to take an ADSL or Cable modem connection and share it to everyone on your network. This type of connection allows the entire office to connect to the Internet through one connection. Each person no longer needs to have a modem and their own dial-up account to access the Internet. The speeds provided by ADSL allow the connection to be shared by quite a number of people before any noticeable connection speed slowdown. | |||||||||
| These items are the workhorses of the network and it is important that they function well. To provide quality equipment we have teamed up with Nortel to provide high quality high end networking gear. If a high end solution is not required we have found that both Netgear and Linksys equipment provide a good solution for smaller offices requiring less network bandwidth. | |||||||||
