| Once an office has all of its computers on a network, a host of applications are available that allow all the computers on the network to share resources. | |||||||||
|
|
|||||||||
| Microsoft Exchange | Microsoft Exchange is an e-mail program that allows all users on the network to share a common contact list and office schedule. It also provides e-mail services to the entire office. | ||||||||
| Deerfield's Mdaemon | Mdaemon is and e-mail program that performs e-mail checking, delivery, parsing and filtering. It is a very robust e-mail server. | ||||||||

Deerfield's Wingate |
Proxies allow control of all Internet traffic in your office. They can be configured to monitor online time, track sites visited, ban sites from being visited as well as ban local users from Internet access. A proxy server can provide a complete Internet policy solution. | ||||||||

| Fax Servers | |||||||||
| Fax servers allow users to send and receive faxes from each computer through a fax/modem on the network. This fax/modem is connected to one phone line allowing all fax traffic to use just the one phone connection. You can fax documents, pictures or anything else just as easily as sending them to a printer. For higher volume usage additional modems and lines can be added to the system. | |||||||||
| Printer Sharing | |||||||||
| Printer sharing allows all of the computers on the network to print to any printer on the network. | |||||||||
| File Servers | |||||||||
| File servers allow a central resource location for all of your files. By storing everything centrally you can back all of the critical data up nightly and take copies of the information off site. If some catastrophic event occurs you will have a recent copy of all of your data and be able to restore all of the work for your entire office up to the date of the last good back up. For more robust back-ups there are other options for backing up data offsite over the Internet. This effectively allows you to never risk more than the current days work no matter what happens to your network and computers. | |||||||||
| Operating Systems | |||||||||
| Microsoft NT | With file servers comes a greater need for network security. Microsoft's 2000 server and NT 4.0 offer excellent security solutions to protect your files from unauthorized use. | ||||||||
